– Buckman Neighborhood –
Buckman
The Buckman neighborhood is located in Southeast Portland. The neighborhood is named for late 19th century orchardist, and school board and city council member, Cyrus Buckman. Buckman is bordered by the Willamette River, Kerns, Sunnyside, and Hosford-Abernathy neighborhoods (boundary map ).
The Hawthorne District, famous for it shops, restaurants, nightclubs, and shops, is partially located in Buckman, along the southern boundary. The northern boundary along Burnside Street is home to the adjoining Kerns neighorhood. Buckman-Kerns is a popular area for dining in East Portland. A portion of the Belmont District also lies within the Buckman neighborhood. Three bridges connect Buckman to neighborhoods in Southwest Portland across the Willamette: the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood via the Burnside Bridge, and Downtown Portland via the Morrison and Hawthorne Bridges.
