– Montavilla –
The Montavilla neighborhood is mostly in southeast Portland, east of Mount Tabor. Part of this neighborhood is north of Burnside, so it spans northeast and southeast Portland. The houses in Montavilla are more modestly priced. This neighborhood is steadily improving, with home renovations going on all through the neighborhood. Montavilla still has a few bargain priced homes are still available for those looking for a fixer. A boundary map of the neighborhood can be found here: Montavilla Boundaries .
In addition to the lovely nearby Mount Tabor Park, there is a nice farmers market (http://www.montavillamarket.org). The name Montavilla is based on what was known as Mount Tabor Village in the 1890s. It was a community known as a stopping point for Oregon travelers going from Hood River into Portland.
Montavilla is best known for its understated bungalows, although one can also find larger Craftsman style homes as well. There are also some Portland style homes, four square architecture, and a few other pleasant surprises.
