– Uptown –
The area of Portland Oregon known to locals as Uptown encompasses the west most portion of the Northwest District. Uptown generally refers to the southern most section of the Northwest District. Most would consider the entire area within several blocks of Burnside close to the foot of the West Hills as Uptown. There is plenty of interesting architecture uptown, including many Craftsman style and Victorian houses built in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Several very nice historic apartment buildings are situated uptown, close to bars, coffee shops, and restaurants. Quite a few of the larger old houses have been converted to multi-unit residential rental properties.
