Uptown Portland

– Uptown –

The area of Portland, Oregon known to locals as Uptown centers around the intersections of Northwest 23rd Avenue and West Burnside Street.  “Uptown” is not an official Portland neighborhood name.  The area encompasses the southeast section of the Kings Heights neighborhood and the northeast edge of Arlington Heights south of Burnside.  To the north of Burnside Uptown includes the southwest section of Nob Hill and the northwest area of the Goose Hollow neighborhood.

Uptown is the gateway between downtown and the West Hills as Uptown.  There is plenty of interesting architecture uptown, including many Craftsman style and Victorian houses built in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.  Several very nice historic apartment buildings are situated uptown, close to bars, coffee shops, and restaurants.  Quite a few of the larger old houses have been converted to multi-unit residential rental properties.
